idence until, in 1546, work started on building a new palace in the French renaissance style
still seen today.
From the mid 18 th century the Royal family opened parts of their collections to the public
and the idea of a museum in the Louvre was born.
At the end of the 18 th century after the French Revolution, the Louvre was definitely trans-
formed into the museum known today.
