Global Positioning System Reference
In-Depth Information
The internal RO implementation creates objects, while the external ROApp
is referencing these objects.
Since every ROApp can represent different aspects of one reality, the
real-object application framework (ROAF) can combine and synthesize dif-
ferent ROApps into one real-world simulation. While each ROApp is free
to define its own (fictional) rules, the ROAF is based on strict unbreak-
able (scientific) laws; i.e., drivers can break speed limits, but they can not
overcome the force (inertia) pulling their car out of a curve.
Reality is defined by a network of real objects exchanging information.

Semantic Network
The highlighted keywords can be separated into technical terms, like pro-
gramming environment or application, which are not part of the vision.
The remaining vocabulary makes up the content of a semantic network.
This early stage of project management is time consuming, but it is also a
very useful investment. In addition to the technical advantages the Internet
provides, it is a semantic tool and it is worthwhile to search for linguistic
tools. There a numerous tools available that accept two expressions and
return a semantic diagram connecting them. Using one of these tools, you
might end up with a semantic network like the one in Table 3.1.
With the help of a semantic net, you can discuss the project vision from
left to right, or top to bottom, and find out, if everything has been covered.
Language analysis and semantic networks are part of a modeling process
to support the project manager's thinking, but they are usually not part
of the project documentation used by the developer team.
The project manager may now come to the conclusion that \real-world
simulator" is a good working title and expresses more than RO, ROApp,
and ROAF, which refer more to different technical modules. These rela-
tionships can be depicted as in Figure 3.1
Figure3.1. The semantic analysis supplies a rough idea of the purpose of areal-
objectapplicationframework. The framework combines a virtual world model
with augmented real-world information to produce a simulation.
