If one person is assigned that task, then first he will do preparation for the task and
then he will start working on the task. Suppose preparation requires 8 hours and
the task requires 8 hours. If you assign two people for this task, then each person
will take 8 hours for preparation. The task may be divided and each person may
take 4 hours to complete his portion of the task. In the first case, it will take 16
hours (preparation time
+
task completion time). In the second case, it will take 12
hours if there is no dependency between the divided tasks. But if there is a depen-
dency, then the task completion will still take 16 hours, as the dependent task can-
not be started until the task on which this task depends completes.
So you see, even after adding resources, you cannot complete a task faster.
