decisions. Anomalies and the final decomposition of the anomalies are recorded
in this report to ensure that the readers know the quality status of the product
under test.
8.2.1 Test Report Components
What information should go in a report? As mentioned in the section “Importance
of Reporting,” any report should have information about measurements and com-
parison and should be presented in a concise and clear manner.
In a test report, variances for schedule and effort must be mentioned. Better
yet, if you can keep EVM information, then information about budget at comple-
tion (BAC), cost performance indicator (CPI), and schedule performance indicator
(SPI) should be good in all your status reports.
Next comes information about test execution information. Here you should
include defect density, number of defects, number of fixed defects, defects by sever-
ity level, and so on.
Next comes efficiency data. Here you can mention test creation productivity,
script creation productivity, and test execution efficiency.
