steady flow of elegant people enjoy tantalising martinis at the window seats midweek,
avoiding the weekend crush. Great events line-up.

Long Bar
BAR
For a taste of colonial-era Shanghai's elitist trappings, you'll do no better than the gorgeous
Long Bar inside the Waldorf Astoria. This was once the members-only Shanghai Club,
whose most spectacular accoutrement was a 34m-long wooden bar, said to be the longest in
Asia.

Barbarossa
The implausible Moroccan vibe of this secluded bar eagerly taps into Shanghai's eclectic
desires. Its inviting ground-floor dining area gives way to an oasis of scattered cushions,
hookah pipes and a terrace bar upstairs, and the music is set to chill. Target happy hour
(5pm to 8pm) to elude staggering prices.
