Top Tips
It's best to arrive in the morning, as only 8000 people are allowed in daily and the lines can quickly get long.
Before you enter the museum, admire the exterior of the building. Designed to recall an ancient bronze ding
(three-legged ritual vessel), the building also echoes the shape of a famous bronze mirror from the Han dynasty,
exhibited within the museum.
The audio guide is well worth the ¥40 fee (¥400 deposit, or your passport). It highlights particularly interesting
items within an exhibit and offers good gallery overviews.
Take a Break
There's a simple restaurant on the ground floor and a cafe on the 2nd floor if you need a break, but the best place
for a real meal is outside the museum at the nearby Yunnan Road Food Street ( Click here ).
