to be used in the “free coffeemaker” in your room? (Not only that, but if you want to empty
your minibar to use it as a fridge, the cost is $12!) The deluxe ocean-view rooms overlooking
Waikiki Beach are fabulous, but can be noisy (traffic on the avenue is constant). You can up-
grade to the Regency Club floors, where the rooms are nicer (and the coffee is free); you'll also
be entitled to an expedited check-in and entry to a private rooftop sun deck and Jacuzzi and
the Regency Club, which has concierge service all day and serves complimentary continental
breakfast and afternoon pupu (Hawaii-style appetizers).
The 10,000-square-foot, two-story luxury spa offers all the massage services, body treat-
ments, and facials you can imagine.

EXPENSIVE
HiltonWaikikiBeach Not to be confused with the Hilton Hawaiian Village, at the other end of
Waikiki and located on the beach, this property is located several long blocks from the beach
and a few blocks from the zoo. In 2007, Hilton took over this 37-floor hotel, and spent $50 mil-
lion in renovations to make the former moderate Radisson hotel into a high-tech, 21st-century
luxury hotel. However, the rack rates are high. This hotel is a 5-minute walk to the beach—but
at these rates you could stay on the beach (see “Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach”)! If you can
find a good rate on the Internet for this hotel, then go for it; otherwise, you can get a much bet-
ter deal elsewhere. Each of the sleek, modern rooms has high-speed Internet ($11/day) and a
flat-screen 42-inch high-def plasma TV with multimedia monitor for a laptop computer, game
station console, video/camera, or MP3 player. The contemporary rooms feature Hilton's com-
fy beds, and the bathrooms feature marble, natural stone, and top-end amenities. All rooms
are the same; the floor and the view determine the price. ( Tip: From the 18th floor and up,
the mountain views overlooking the Ala Wai Canal are spectacular and not as pricey as the
oceanview rooms.) Hilton has added a 24-hour eatery, MAC24-7 , which comes in handy if
you arrive late at night.
