the solubility of these homologues with the help of appropriate mental models
concerning structures of molecules: alcohols with short carbon chains are not
soluble in petrol, but in water; alcohols with long carbon chains are not soluble in
water, but in petrol. Appropriate experiments can be planned for testing hypotheses.
