Tourist Information
I Amsterdam ( www.iamsterdam.com ) is the city's info-packed official website.
The VVV Main Office (
OFFLINE MAP , E1; Stationsplein 10; 7am-9pm Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm Sat & Sun) , outside Cen-
traal Station, can help with just about anything: it sells the I Amsterdam discount card,
theatre and museum tickets, a good city map (€2.50), cycling maps, public transit passes
and train tickets to Schiphol Airport. It also books hotel rooms for free. Queues can be
long; be sure to take a number when you walk in.
Travellers with Disabilities
Many budget and midrange hotels have limited accessibility, as they are in old buildings
with steep stairs and no lifts.
The city's many cobblestone streets are rough for wheelchairs.
Tram lines 5 and 24 run wheelchair-accessible carriages. All buses are accessible, as are
metro stations.
For further information, check the accessibility guide at Accessible Amsterdam
( www.toegankelijkamsterdam.nl ) .
Visas
Tourists from nearly 60 countries - including Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zea-
land, Singapore, South Korea, the USA and most of Europe - need only a valid passport
to visit the Netherlands for up to three months.
EU nationals can enter for three months with just their national identity card.
