In-Depth Information
ATMs
›
Most accept cards that access the Cirrus and Plus networks. ATMs are not hard to find,
but they often have queues or run out of cash on weekends.
Credit Cards
›
Most hotels accept them, but a fair number of shops and restaurants do not, or accept
only European cards with security chips. Some businesses levy a 5% surcharge (or more)
on credit cards. Always check first.
›
For a backup plan against the security chip issue, consider getting a preloaded debit card
that has the security chip embedded. Many banks provide such cards.
