From Schiphol Airport (AMS)
Train Trains run to Amsterdam's Centraal Station (€3.80 one way, 20 minutes) 24 hours a
day. From 6am to 12.30am they go every 10 to 15 minutes; hourly in the wee hours. To buy
tickets, you need cash or a credit card with chip (usually only Dutch ones work). Ticket
machines accept coins only. To use euro bills, head past the machines to the ticket windows
and purchase tickets from an agent for a €0.50 surcharge.
Door-to-door van A shuttle bus is run by Connexxion ( www.airporthotelshuttle.nl ; one way/return
€16/26) from the airport to several hotels every 30 minutes 6am to 9pm. Look for the Con-
nexxion desk by Arrivals 4.
Tickets & Passes
The GVB offers handy, unlimited-ride passes for one/two/three/four/five/six/seven days (€7.50/ 12/16/20.50/25/
28.50/31), valid on trams, buses and the metro.
Passes are available at the GVB office, VVV offices (one- to four-day passes only) and from tram conductors
(one-day passes only).
The I Amsterdam Card ( Click here ) also includes a travel pass.
Bus Bus 197 (€4 one way, 25 minutes) is the quickest way to places by the Museumplein
or Leidseplein. It departs outside the arrivals hall door.
Taxi Twenty to 30 minutes to the centre (longer in rush hour), €45 to €50. The taxi stand is
just outside the arrivals hall door.
