This dazzling building plays host to everything from the Holland Symfonia (which typic-
ally accompanies the national ballet) to the prestigious Metropole Orkest, which does smart

Bimhuis
JAZZ
The core of Amsterdam's influential jazz and improvisational music scene since 1973, the
Bimhuis has kept its focus even after merging (architecturally) with the Muziekgebouw.
Tuesdays at 10pm from September to June are an open jam session in the cafe - fun and
free (as is the preceding music workshop at 8pm).

Conservatorium van Amsterdam
The city's prestigious music school, set in a dramatic building on the harbour, is a great
place to see jazz, opera and classical performances, at very affordable prices. The snazzy
venue has state-of-the-art acoustics, endless glass walls and light-flooded interiors. Check
