Getting There
Tram Trams 9 and 14 go to Waterlooplein, the Jewish sights and onward to the Plantage. Trams do not go to

Metro There's a stop at Nieuwmarkt, though it's easier to tram to Waterlooplein and walk to the square.
The Sights in a Day
Begin at Museum het Rembrandthuis ( Click here ) , the master's impressive
home where he painted his finest works. Nearby Gassan Diamonds ( Click
here ) gives the bling lowdown via free factory tours. Those who prefer history to baubles
can visit the Joods Historisch Museum ( Click here ) , which provides the backstory to
the neighbourhood's role as the old Jewish quarter.
Nosh on wood-oven-fired slices at De Pizzabakkers ( Click here ) , then spend
the afternoon taking in the Plantage's many sights. Our pick goes to the eye-pop-
ping Amsterdam Tattoo Museum ( Click here ) , complete with jars of pickled, inked
skin from 19th-century sailors. The Hortus Botanicus' ( Click here ) time-hewn plants
and the resistance exhibits of the Verzetsmuseum ( Click here ) are also here. When
happy hour rolls around, stroll over to organic beermaker Brouwerij 't IJ ( Click here )
and swill at the foot of an authentic windmill.
Fork into contemporary Dutch cuisine at Hemelse Modder ( Click here ) for
dinner. Then take your pick of the cafes around Nieuwmarkt square or head
down the road to Café de Doelen ( Click here ) for a nightcap.
