2 Hollandsche Manege
RIDING SCHOOL
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
Softly sunlit and smelling of hay and horses, the neoclassical Hollandsche Manege (1882)
is an Amsterdam treasure. Buy treats in the shop to feed the creatures, or watch the in-
structors put them through their paces as you sip in the elegant cafe. To get there, enter
through the long arcade on Vondelstraat, take a left turn and head up the stairs.

An hour's self-guided tour through this jenever (Dutch gin) museum includes a confusing
sniff test, a distilled history of the Bols company and a cocktail made by one of its formid-
able bartenders, who train at the academy upstairs. It's kind of Tom Cruise Cocktail
cheesy, but fun. Come Friday after 5pm, when admission is only €7.50. ( www.houseofbols.com ;
