Getting There
Tram Trams 2 and 5 run from the city centre and make stops at the front entrance of the Vondelpark and at
the museums around the Museumplein. Tram 1 is handy for attractions deeper within the Vondelpark and the bars
and restaurants along Overtoom.
The Sights in a Day
Take a spin around beloved Vondelpark ( Click here ) . Long and thin - about
1.5km long and 300m wide - it's easy to explore via a morning jaunt. Café
Vertigo ( Click here ) , 't Blauwe Theehuis ( Click here ) and other eateries in the park of-
fer sustenance. You'll see a great slice of freewheeling Amsterdam lifehanging out here.
Pay homage to the arts in the afternoon (when crowds are lighter). Fortify with a
meaty lunch at Loetje ( Click here ) in the Old South, then hit the trail around
the Museumplein. You'll likely have the stamina for just the Van Gogh Museum ( Click
here ) and Rijksmuseum ( Click here ) , but kudos if you fit in the modern Stedelijk Mu-
seum ( Click here ) as well. They're all lined up in a walkable row.
The streets around Overtoom burst with stylish ethnic eateries. For dinner go
Moroccan at Paloma Blanca ( Click here ) , Ethiopian at Lalibela ( Click here )
or Indonesian at Blue Pepper ( Click here ) . Afterward get cultured under the stars at
Vondelpark's free Openluchttheater ( Click here ) , or listen to classical music soar in the
pristine acoustics of the Concertgebouw ( Click here ) .
