Angelika Groenendijk Wasylewski's boutique is a showcase for young designers (mainly
Dutch). It regularly rotates the racks but on our visit we spotted Monique Poolman's strong,
designed cuts; Letke de Roos' fun, feminine pieces; Heidi Long's striking collection; and
Susa Plaza's sporty, comfortable look. ( www.ydu.nl ; Keizersgracht 447;

Perhaps a more fitting name for this 'cheese house' would be a temple, for it's a wonderful
place to come if you want to worship fermented dairy products from all over Holland and
the world. Fortunately, Henk, the affable proprietor, knows that this is best done with
plenty of free samples - a concept that most other cheese shops in Amsterdam miss.

Heineken's multistorey concept store glows cool and green, just like a frosty bottle of the
brew itself. Some of the logoed gear is over the top (the chic jackets), but the decorated
beer bottles in the huge fridge make groovy souvenirs. We especially like the primary-col-
our block-print ones à la Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. This store carries more wares than the
brewery's shop in De Pijp. (Amstelstraat 31;
