men. Table 11.2 presents the number of plants identified and mapped by type.
The participants categorized their plants and trees according to their primary
use: fruit, medicinal or spice, vegetable, ornamental and shade trees. This
study utilized these categorizations as opposed to taxonomic classification.
Of the total number of plants identified, fruit trees and ornamentals
accounted for 34 per cent and 32 per cent respectively. Indeed, this is evident
in the landscape of the neighbourhood, which has a well-established canopy
