size in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. A wide dispersion of plasma EBV DNA
concentrations for each amplicon size is observed. (B) Fractional concentration of
EBV DNA against amplicon size. The plasma EBV DNA concentrations of each
amplicon size were expressed as a fraction of the concentration measured by the 82 bp
(shortest amplicon) assay of that patient. The size distribution of plasma EBV DNA is
more easily appreciated with this presentation. A marked drop in fractional concentra-
tions can be observed when the amplicon size is increased from 82 to 181 bp.
