CONCLUSION
As the case studies of Tonle Sap and Lake Titicaca introduced in this chapter sug-
gest, and in support of a growing body of detailed research (e.g., Stevens 1995; Butler
and Hinch 1996; chapter 5), ecotourism can be an important vehicle for preserving
both protected areas and indigenous culture.
