The Uros islands are an archipelago of ten to forty artificial reed structures, each
island inhabited by up to fifty individuals (Figure 14.36). During the rainy season
from November to February, islands are often pulled to different locations around
the lake as occurs in the Tonle Sap in Cambodia. Traditional reed boats are kept for
