tal and recreational ponds, the latter with paddle boats, boardwalks, sun shelters, and
restored chinampas (Figure 11.24).
The park is also a functional landscape that receives 300 m 3 of tertiary treated
wastewater (from the new treatment plant) that is supplied to the major lake through
what must be the world's most beautiful discharge outlets for treated wastewater
(Figure 11.25). This water is combined with stormwater runoff that is itself treated
and harvested from swales located in the median strip of the abutting highway
(Figure 11.26) and all supplied in the morning to reduce ET losses (i.e., based on a
water budget strategy, as described in chapter 18).
