FIGURE 9.11 A phasing plan was prepared that proposed to restore the best agricultural
lands last to provide a revenue stream to finance the restoration of the poorer soil areas.
FIGURE 9.12 An approximate 200 acre native plant nursery was installed on the project
site to produce enough seed to annually restore and plant 1,000 acres of wetland. Over one
hundred native species were planted. In the nursery, the first-year plantings of New England
aster ( Aster novae-angliae ) produced > 100 lb of pure live seed per acre, valued at ~US$100-
200 dollars per pound.
