Such “rehydration education” ( sensu France 2003) is essential for fostering water-
shed awareness and stewardship (France 2005). In 2004 for the first time, the story
of Azraq was mentioned in the country's textbooks. And attempts have even been
made to reach urban children by developing electronic games about water manage-
ment issues in Jordan, particularly the fate of the Azraq Oasis.
Other objectives outlined in the management plan were to enhance and maintain
the publicity of the reserve nationally and internationally, to work with the Ministry
