stories, students in Amman and other cities have also become engaged and feel just
as passionate about the issues as those from the immediate area of Azraq itself.
Students from across the country, therefore, learned that the water that they drink
or casually use originates from this beautiful wetland in the desert. The RSCN
worked with the Ministry of Education to develop a new national curriculum about
water for the schools which focused on its role in supporting ecosystems and soci-
eties, the unique qualities about water as a substance, the treatment and demand
management of water resources, and the dynamics of water supply (Irani 2004).
