Nepal is divided into three topographical zones: the Terai, the Hill,
and the Himalayas. Considered the world's best destination for
mountaineering, Nepal contains eight of the ten highest mountains in
the world, including Mount Everest at 29,035 feet (8,850 meters) and
Kachenjunga at 28,209 feet (8,598 meters), the world's tallest and
third tallest, respectively.
