Science World
Kids can get involved in the
displays at this hands-on discovery
center and they won't even know
they're learning something. A good
rainy day diversion, Science World
also has birthday packages,
and the Alcan OMNIMAX
Theatre (see pp22-3).
Vancouver Aquarium
Canada's largest aquarium
introduces kids to everything from
eels and octopuses to tropical
fish in re-created natural habitats.
Naturalists are on hand to answer
questions. Special events for
kids include sleepovers with the
whales (see pp10-11) .

Railway &
Children's
Farmyard
Stanley Park's
miniature railway
makes a 15-minute
excursion through
the forest. At the
Children's Farm-
yard, get up close
to goats, sheep,
pigs, and ponies, as
well as more exotic beasts.
There's plenty to do for free, too.
Second Beach has a play area,
swimming pool, and beach.

Nature Park
Even young chil-
dren will be able
to navigate the 3
miles (5 km) of
well-groomed trails
to spy turtles, frogs,
hummingbirds,
deer, or coyote
around the bog,
pond, and forest.
The trail circling
the pond is wheelchair accessi-
ble. The Nature House features
interpretive exhibits, and special
events include the popular Slugfest.

Walk the swaying bridge, then
climb Treetops Adventure's board-
walks and platforms perched high
in the forest (see pp14-15).
CN IMAX Theatre
Kids will feel like they're in
the middle of the action with this
screen wide enough to hold a life-
size image of a whale (see p13).
