In some situations it is possible to lift the insulated internal floor construction above the
height of the plinth, so that the plinth is no longer required to be insulating, which makes
its design straightforward (see Figure 24 opposite). However, this solution is not always
possible owing to the consequent increased height of the building after raising the floor
and the necessity for ramps or steps to access the building.
