Owing to the unique mechanical properties of hempcrete,
blocks still need to be cast around a structural frame.
There is little data on, and, to the authors' knowledge, no examples in use of, structural
cast-in-situ hempcrete other than in floor slabs, nor have there been any studies to date on
the effects of ageing on the structural performance of hempcrete, although it is thought that
higher-density hempcrete is likely to age better than lower-density mixes.
