Visas
All visitors to China, except for citizens of Brunei, Japan and Singapore, need a visa to enter. Standard 30-day
single-entry tourist visas readily available from Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide.
Money
Most ATMs accept foreign ATM cards and credit cards. Changing foreign currency is straightforward. Credit
cards are not widely accepted, except at high-end hotels, restaurants and shops.
Mobile Phones
Most foreign phones will work (check they're unlocked for roaming before you go). Local SIM cards are cheap
and easy to buy.

Plugs & Adaptors
Plugs either have two or three pins ( Click here ) ; electrical current is 220V/50Hz. Adaptors can be bought at the
airport.
Tipping
Tipping is not standard. High-end restaurants will add a service charge, but tips are not expected by wait staff or
taxi drivers.
