spot; even if it's crowded there's normally somewhere to hide away if you want. There are

Hidden Houhai
Come nightfall, the Houhai lakes area becomes a throng of milling crowds and bar touts trying to entice you into
their pricey hostelries. Avoid both by slipping down the
hutong
that run off the lakeshore, where you'll find far
more amenable bars and cafes. The lanes running west from Silver Ingot Bridge, at the end of Yandai Xiejie, and
the west shore of Qianhai Lake are a good place to start.
