Beihai Park
With an extraordinary history as the former palace of the
great Mongol emperor Kublai Khan, and back garden for
the subsequent Yuan dynasty emperors, Beihai Park (
北海
公园
) is an oasis for Beijingers. With the tranquil lake of
Beihai at its centre and with temples, pavilions and spirit
walls scattered through it, the park offers visitors a chance
to combine sightseeing with fun, whether it's mucking
around in a boat, having a picnic or just watching the
parade of humanity that passes through.
