Beihai Park & Xicheng
The three lakes that dominate the district of Xicheng (
西城
) make up one of
Beijing's great playgrounds. With Beihai Park (
北海公园
) at the centre, they
offer hours of open-air fun, from ice-skating to boating. This area, which in-
cludes the former neighbourhood of Xuanwu, is one of striking contrasts, rich
with temples and
hutong
, as well as being home to the capital's oldest shops. It's
impossible to be bored here.
