5.6 Examples
Example 5.1 Using the Export Method with Enterprise Guide
This example has the following steps. Note that the “Export” option button is in three locations.
1. Select a file to output.
2. Select the “Export” option on the File tab.
3. Select the “Export <DataSetName>” option, here shown as “Export SHOES”.
4. On the EXPORT window select the output file location and data format, your version of SAS
Enterprise Guide may allow you to choose “Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Workbooks (.xls)” or
“Microsoft Excel Workbooks (.xlsx)”, or one of several text formats that Excel can read.
5. Press the “SAVE” button, close the SAS file, and open the Excel file to view the results.
After opening SAS Enterprise Guide and selecting a new project, you have many ways to open a SAS file
to export the data to Excel. Figure 5.1 shows one simple method of selecting the SASHELP.shoes dataset
using the SAS toolbar options: FILE►OPEN►DATA►SERVERS►LOCAL►SASHELP►SHOES
