Although Example 5.5 is the basis of this example, there are several differences are between it and this
example. The first difference occurs within the Import Wizard when showing screen 2 of 4 of the SAS
Import Wizard (Figure 5.14). Notice that the “Use a predetermined named range” button is selected and
that the “First row of range contains field names” checkbox is not selected. Some versions of SAS
Enterprise Guide may also show a names range that would appear something like
“SHOES$(SHOES$A1:G396)”. This occurs because of the way that older versions of SAS opened Excel
workbooks and assigned a named range to all active cells of a worksheet. For you to be able to select data
from the Excel workbook, the data cells you wish to import must be within a named range.
