Taksim Square
Set off from this busy square ( Click here ) , a popular meeting place for locals.
Cihangir Mosque
From Taksim Sq, walk south down busy Sıraselviler Caddesi and veer left into Arslan
Yatağı Sokak. Follow it and Cihangir Caddesi to Susam Sokak, where you should turn
right and then almost immediately left to admire a spectacular view of the Old City and
Bosphorus from the garden of this mosque .
Kardeşler Cafe
Backtrack to Susam Sokak, turn left and follow Şimşirci Sokak into Akarsu Yokuşu.
These streets are scattered with local cafes, the most popular of which is this simple place
next to the Firuz Ağa Mosque.
Faikpaşa Sokak
Walk past the mosque and turn right into Ağa Hamamı Sokak, passing the historic
hamam that gives the street its name and then veering left into Faikpaşa Sokak , home to
alluring antique shops including A La Turca ( Click here ) .
Museum of Innocence
Half-way down Faikpaşa Sokak, turn left and then right into Çukurcuma Caddesi. Contin-
ue downhill and you'll eventually come to a cıkmazı (cul de sac) where Orhan Pamuk's
recently opened Museum of Innocence ( Click here ) is located.
ARTER
Backtrack to Çukurcuma Caddesi, turn left and cross busy Yeni Çarşı Caddesi, continuing
into Tomtom Kaptan Sk and walking uphill until you reach İstiklal Caddesi. ARTER (
Click here ) , one of the city's leading contemporary art spaces, is to your left.
