In-Depth Information
Atatürk's Deathbed
Dolmabahçe was used by the first president of the Republic when he visited İstanbul, and
he died here on 10 November 1938. The Harem tour pauses at his bedroom, which fea-
tures a bed draped in the Turkish flag and a clock stopped at 9.05am, when the great man
drew his last breath.

Glass Pavilion
This opulently decorated köşk (kiosk) was used by the sultans as a private retreat. Its at-
tached fairytale-like conservatory features etched-glass windows, a crystal fountain and
myriad windows. You'll find the kiosk next to the aviary on the street side of the palace.
Top Tips
Visitor numbers in the palace are limited to 3000 per day and this ceiling is often reached on weekends and holi-
days - come midweek if possible, and even then be prepared to queue (often for a long period and in full sun).
