An Afternoon in Galata
This ancient and highly atmospheric neighbourhood has a very different feel to
the rest of the city, perhaps due to its history as a sequestered settlement built
and heavily fortified by Genoese traders in the 14th century. Its bohemian cre-
dentials are similarly unique, with galleries, bars and edgy boutiques scattered
among the handsome apartment buildings that line its narrow cobbled streets.
