İmaret
The mosque's imaret (soup kitchen) is on its northwestern edge. Now occupied by the
Dârüzziyafe Restaurant, its tranquil courtyard is a lovely place to enjoy a tea.
Top Tips
In the garden behind the mosque is a terrace with lovely views of the Golden Horn (Haliç).
The surrounding streets are home to many Ottoman timber houses. To see some, head down Fetva Yokuşu and
then veer right into Namahrem Sokak and into Ayrancı Sokak.
Visitors to the mosque must remove their shoes; women should cover their heads with a scarf or shawl.
Avoid visiting at lunchtime on Friday, when weekly sermons and group prayers are held.
