TIMES AND DATES
The time is generally expressed by stating the word for hour, then the hour itself, then
the number of minutes past the hour and the word for minute; thus 5.05 is rendered
maung bprahm, bprahm nee-ar tee . Morning, afternoon or night are added to confirm
the right time. In business the 24-hour clock is usually used, and months are referred
to by number - thus October is kai dhop .

A food and drink glossary
As most Khmer dishes are ordered simply by stating what type of food you want to eat
and how you'd like it prepared (thus stir-fried pork with ginger is sait jerook cha khyay ),
we've listed Khmer terms for various ingredients and standard cooking methods; a few
specific dishes are also listed by name . To specify that a particular ingredient should not
be added to your food, prefix the item in question with ot dak (without) - thus if you
don't want sugar in your drink, say ot dak skar.
