Neak Pean) after its central sanctuary tower. The main towers are located within two
concentric walled enclosures: a ruined outer laterite wall plus a relatively intact
inner wall built of brick. The west side of the inner wall still preseves the some
elaborate but eroded reliefs contained in a sequence of roundels among which you
can just about make out a kneeling monkey and fragments of a fighting lion - only
the mane remains.
he central sanctuary tower itself still boasts reasonably preserved carved lintels over
three of its doors, while inside a battered but delicately decorated linga base stands
beneath the tower's impressively high brick vault (minus its summit). The tower was
originally linked to a smaller building opposite, housing a statue of Nandin. The statue
is long gone (although you can still make out some of the carvings around the pedestal
on which it would have stood), and all that can be seen of the raised causeway that
connected the two structures are a few pillars.
A number of unusual octagonal towers are located in the enclosure, their walls
decorated with large, circular medallion-like carvings and more flying palaces.
