the walls of the galleries.
Past here is the Terrace of the Elephants ,
extending 300m to the north. hree-
headed elephants guard the stairway at
the southern end; before ascending, be
sure to view the terrace from the road,
where a sculpted frieze of hunting and
fighting elephants adorns the base of the
terrace. he terrace originally supported
wooden pavilions and reception halls and
would have been used by the king as a
ceremonial viewing platform and a place
from which to address his citizens.
