WHAT TO SEE AND DO
Mui Ne is justifiably famous for its
impressive Sahara-esque red and white
sand dunes , best seen in late afternoon,
which can be visited as part of a guided
tour or independently by bicycle or
motorbike. he white-sand dunes are
quite far out and neither the white nor
the red is pristine, unfortunately; a steady
stream of visitors brings a steady stream of
rubbish and quad bikes erode the fragile
landscape. En route to the dunes, it is
worth a stop at Mui Ne village for a scenic
vantage point from the road, high over
the bevy of blue fishing boats jostling in
the harbour, as the fishmongers prepare
their wares on the sand below. Another
worthy stop is the Fairy Springs , 5km east
of the centre of Mui Ne, a shallow stream
that runs through a beautiful red rock
and sand dune canyon. Ignore the young
men who offer to be guides; you can
hardly get lost here.
