ACCOMMODATION, EATING AND
DRINKING
Most of the best beach accommodation is west of
Mambajao between the barangays of Bug-ong and
Yumbing, though the beach itself is coarse dark sand. This
stretch also gives quickest access to White Island, a
dazzling serpentine ribbon of sand that makes a fun, early
morning boat excursion (since there's no shade on the
island it can be too hot later in the day). All of the listings
below, except GV , have their own restaurants.

SIARGAO
Off the northeastern tip of Mindanao
lies the teardrop-shaped and largely
undeveloped island of Siargao , with its
secluded white-sand beaches and dramatic
coves and lagoons. Siargao has got
everything, with a typically tropical coastal
landscape of palm trees and dazzling seas,
and a lush hinterland of small barangays
and coconut groves. Some of the first
tourists here were surfers , who discovered
a break at Tuason Point that was so good
they called it Cloud 9. Over the years,
word of mouth brought an increasing
number of surfers from around the world,
and today it's the centre of surfing in the
Philippines. here's a handful of seaside
