EATING
Batu Buruk Food Court Along Batu Buruk Beach. One
of the best food courts along Malaysia's east coast, this one

and seafood rolls with sago flour and pandan leaves with
chilli sauce for dipping; RM8) and the incredible fried ice
cream. Daily 4pm-midnight.
Madam Bee's Kitchen 177 Jln Kampung Cina. This
welcoming little restaurant keeps Peranakan culture and

Terengganu (RM5.80). Thurs-Tues 9.30am-5.30pm.
The Vinum XChange 221 Jln Bandar. This little drinking

ACCOMMODATION
Awi's Yellow House 3576 Kampong Duyong Besar
T 017 984 0337. This rickety complex of basic stilted huts
(not yellow, incidentally), built over the water on the tiny
island of Duyung, gives you a taste of relaxing village life
from years past, though it's a little out of the way. There's a
kitchen for self-caterers and a fabulous night market right
on the doorstep. From the bus station, take bus Bandar to
PULAU KAPAS
A thirty-minute ride by speedboat from
Marang takes you to the lovely island of
PULAU KAPAS , less than 2km in length,
where all accommodation options are
TRAVEL TO AND FROM MARANG
The small coastal town of Marang , 18km south of Kuala Terengganu, is the jumping-off point
for nearby Pulau Kapas, 6km offshore (see above). You'll find a couple of banks here, as well as
onward connections to other east-coast destinations. Any Dungun or Rhu Muda-bound bus
(every 30min) from Kuala Terengganu, or Kuala Terengganu-bound bus from Cherating, will
drop you on the main road at Marang, from where the centre is a short walk downhill towards
the sea. The bus ticket kiosk is on Jln Tanjung Sulong Musa. To get to Cherating by local bus,
catch a Kuala Dungun-bound bus and change there, or take a local bus to Kuala Terengganu's
long-distance bus station.
Ferry company o ces are all located by the jetty and there are regular departures for
Pulau Kapas - Suria Link is a reliable option, dropping you off right in front of your resort
(RM40 return) - most companies do three runs daily to the island from around 8.30am to 4pm;
the boats leave before their scheduled departure if full. There's practically no service during the
monsoon season (Nov-Feb).
