From KL, AirAsia covers a number of
domestic routes, and prices are
spectacularly low, especially if booked
in advance. Malaysia's bus and train
routes are extremely e cient, and
crossing the entire length of the
Peninsula can be done overnight.
Malaysia has land borders with
hailand, Singapore, Brunei and
Kalimantan (Indonesian territory),
with frequent long-distance buses
crossing all of them.

here is a land border at Entikong,
100km south of Kuching in Sarawak;

Kalimantan through here to Kuching

Recent political unrest and the threat of
terrorism has made travelling from
hailand to Malaysia more dangerous
and visitors are strongly advised against
venturing into the provinces of Pattani,
Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla on the
hai-Malaysia border. his makes the
city and transport hub of Hat Yai and
several of the main border crossings to
Malaysia essentially out of bounds for
the time being: it includes travelling by
rail from Hat Yai (and Bangkok) to
Butterworth via Padang Besar, and
