One possible approach would be as follows:
Use a form of the application name as the db_name. This application name should be
recognizable by the support staff, but does not necessarily have to be.
Use a form of encoded location as the db_unique_name, even if you are not currently
planning on using Data Guard but other storage replication.
You could use the same ORACLE_SID as the db_unique_name to keep the naming scheme
consistent.
Throughout the rest of the chapter you will find this principle applied. Figure 10-1 shows the configuration used
from a high level.
