This is very useful when it comes to patching these components as Enterprise Manager can also track the Oracle
homes, including their patch levels. Click on the Finish button to finish the configuration of the newly discovered
targets. You are presented a summary of all discovered targets to be added which you should acknowledge by clicking
on the “Save” button. Enterprise Manager will then display a status page indicating it is saving the targets, and finally
show the successful operation summary.

Automatic Target Discovery Process
In addition to the manual process Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud control allows you to continuously monitor hosts
which are already managed via an agent. The target discovery will be initiated automatically on a daily basis, however
this interval can be configured. Navigate to Setup ➤ Add Target ➤ Configure Auto Discovery to configure options. The
discovery module of choice is named “All Discovery Modules”. Click on the wrench icon next to it to configure it. You
can select the target type the agent should discover by clicking on a host in the list, as shown in Figure 8-22 .

Click on the “OK” button to save any changes made to the settings in Figure 8-22 to take you back to the previous
screen. You can optionally wait until the discovery is automatically started on a daily basis, or if you are impatient run
the discovery now by selecting the host and clicking on the “Run discovery now” button. A short prompt will appear
asking if you are sure before the target discovery starts. At the end of it a pop up informs you of success or failure. If
new targets have been discovered you will see a number in the discovered targets column for your host. If you click on
the number you are taken to the auto discovery results screen, which is shown in Figure 8-23 .
