Figure 8-19. The Self-Update portal
The Self-Update is periodically refreshed via an Enterprise Manager job which executes daily. However if you are
impatient you can always start a manual refresh by clicking on the “Check Updates” button. Information about the
agents is shown in the “Agent Software” row. As you can see from the screen print there are 9 updates available, and the
initial agent is installed (“Applied Updates” is 1). Clicking on the link “Agent Software” takes you to the detail screen.
A value of “Available” in the Status column indicates that an agent is available, clicking on the “Download” button will
trigger the agent download to the previously configured software library. A small dialog window prompts you for a time
to download the agent. It might be a good idea to download the agent software at a quiet time instead of immediately. A
job will be submitted to Enterprise Manager which will be in charge of downloading the agent software.
Once the status for the agent has changed to “Downloaded” you need to click on the “Apply” button to make the
agent available for deployment. Another job will take care of the deployment, which should be completed in little
to no time. A manual page refresh later the agent status has changed to “Applied”. You can view the success of the
operation by querying the supported platforms as you did during agent deployment. Remember that only the Linux
x86-64 agent was initially available. Now the second agent has been made available as well:
[oracle@oem12oms1 ~]$ emcli get_supported_platforms
