In-Depth Information
If the inventory location is under ORACLE_BASE, the installer will issue a warning which you should not ignore,
especially when using different accounts for Grid Infrastructure and the RDBMS binaries. Although you are prompted
to run a script after the transfer of the binaries to the hard disk finished OUI insists that the permissions for the
inventory directory are as follows:
Owner: grid owner-“grid” in this example
Group: oinstall
Permissions: 0770
The inventory group is determined by the grid owner's primary group-oinstall. Again click “Next” to advance to
the next screen.
Running Root Scripts Automatically
A very nice feature has been added to Grid Infrastructure allowing you to have OUI execute the root scripts to be run
during the installation automatically. You can either pass the root credentials or provide information needed to use
the UNIX sudo -function to execute the root and any other post-installation scripts. Figure 6-9 shows the screen from
which you specific these credentials and other login details.
