You have the option to download software updates such as Patch Set Updates and other fixes recommended
by Oracle. By selecting the first radio button you allow a connection to My Oracle support to download patches
and updates. You can supply proxy connection information to connect to the Internet. In most security conscious
environments a direct connection, even facilitated by a proxy server will not be possible or even desirable. Oracle offers
the second solution instead, which enables you to make use of previously downloaded patches. OUI has a command
line option, called “-downloadUpdates”. When you start OUI in this mode on a workstation connected to the Internet,
a configuration dialog will guide you through the necessary steps for downloading the patches. These can then be
transferred to the staging server and referenced in the location text field. In the above example no patches have been
selected for download or application. You can ignore the warning window which pops up in this case for now.
